NTQ Solution is expanding and bringing in new managers. It’s important to have a shared vision and understanding of the company’s growth trajectory in order to build a strong leadership team and cultivate unity among key members. To address this need, NTQ is committed to enhancing the management team’s role and improving leadership effectiveness and team performance.

The Leadership In Action 2024 program is tailored for NTQ’s middle management team, aiming to develop strategic thinking and execution capabilities comprehensively. This year’s program centers three key themes: competence, accountability, and resilience.

Competence

Competency - Leadership Training 2024

The primary objective of this year’s leadership and management training program at NTQ is to establish a unified competency framework for the management team. This seeks to assist managers in aligning their personal development with the organization’s objectives and enhancing consistency in leadership and management styles.

By drawing on well-known leadership ??models from around the world, managers have identified five key leadership competencies essential for NTQ. In addition to the ability to guide and plan strategically, NTQ leaders need to demonstrate strong execution capabilities, the capacity to unite team members around common goals, and effective resource allocation and management. Furthermore, multicultural communication skills, a grasp of international markets, and a service-oriented mindset are particularly crucial for helping NTQ adapt swiftly in the era of globalizat??ion and reach international customers.

At the same time, each management position will have sp?ecific competency clusters. The entire management team has been categorized into 10 distinct position groups to develop personalized profiles based on? the core objectives of each department outlined in the third five-year strategy and corresponding job descriptions.

Accountability

Accountability - Leadership Training 2024

At NTQ, we believe that ‘you are your word.’ In an open and honest environment, managers are encouraged to express their views and thoughts, contributing to NTQ’s leadership competency framework. This fosters a sense of responsibility and commitment among managers, helping them understand their roles and promote teamwork within the team.

Furthermore, the importance of each team member and manager is highlighted through various teamwork activities in the program. For instance, in the “Leadership Spirit” activity, participants are divided into two groups and compete in a counting challenge. This seemingly simple activity requires concentration and coordination among team members. Whenever a mistake is made, the team leader takes responsibility for the outcome and performs push-ups. Despite the physical challenge, team leaders persevere and complete the task. This simulation helps leaders understand that keeping commitments is essential for building trust with the team, earning respect, and fostering a spirit of collaboration to achieve common goals.

Resilience

Resilience - Leadership Training 2024

During the Leadership In Action 2024 training sessions, the management and leadership team face various challenges and practical exercises, providing valuable experiences. The intense atmosphere, tight deadlines, the MC’s encouragement, and pressure from teammates ignite the “fighting spirit,” requiring managers to maintain resilience and composure to overcome obstacles and achieve success.

These challenges not only awaken the conquering spirit of the “warriors” but also help them self-reflect and draw valuable leadership lessons. These lessons include strategic vision, coordinating personnel for each challenge, and the ability to quickly assess opponents and make suitable moves in the “Đinh B?Lĩnh’s Army” activity. Leadership resilience is also demonstrated when the team leader can understand and empathize with members’ difficulties and encourage the team to overcome obstacles, particularly in a diverse team.

These lessons help NTQ leaders understand how to build a unified team that can overcom?e all ?challenges to achieve common goals.

Starting as a startup with 5 founders passionate about technology, NTQ Solution has grown significantly over 13 years, becoming a standout in growth rate and revenue. Throughout this journey, the spirit of ‘Companionship’ has been a key factor in connecting each individual at NTQ, enabling them to grow alongside the organization. The challenge has been how to align aspirations and maximize the strengths of a multinational company under the Global One-Team strategy. To address this, the Leadership Training Program was introduced, targeting managers both in Vietnam and globally, to offer new insights and directions for NTQ’s future development

“Common Goal?plus “Responsibility?plus “Commitment?– The formula for “Companionship?to achieve resilient success together.

Resilient Success Formula at NTQ

In the early days of its establishment, the NTQ team lacked much of the knowledge needed to operate the business, such as in management, finance, and sales. Thanks to the passion for technology, along with the management team’s shoulder-to-shoulder support and fearless approach to challenges, NTQ has grown significantly, becoming a standout in growth speed and revenue. Nowadays, facing changing requirements and constant competition from the market, the spirit of “Companionship” plays an increasingly important role and is key to NTQ achieving even more challenging goals.

At NTQ, we embrace the spirit of Companionship to actively promote and create meaningful values that contribute to each individual’s growth as they work with NTQ.

C?ompanionship = Common Goal + Responsibility + Commitm?ent

NTQ understands that achieving resilient success requires each individual to understand, agree on, and be responsible for shared goals, while also being committed to implementing them through to the end. “Companionship” means working together towards these “Common Goals,” ensuring that the outcomes benefit everyone. “Responsibility” encourages members to proactively take on tasks and collaborate with teammates to achieve these goals. Finally, “commitment”—remaining steadfast and determined in fulfilling tasks—is a vital factor for the organization’s success.

The spirit of “Companionship” has become an important element in NTQ’s vision and core values, shaping the unique identity of NTQ people. It is through this spirit that our entire team can truly understand, align with, and amplify our collective strength to drive business growth. Companionship is also the guiding principle that inspires NTQ’s leadership training activities.

“Converging Aspirations” to Prepare for a New Journey

“What path will we choose?

What can we do together to?? conquer that path??/span>

The concern of managers and leaders of??ten revolves around the significant responsibilities they bear for the organization. Beyond developing professional skills, each manager must cultivate the mindset and abilities necessary to guide their unit in the right direction, achieve set goals, and create value for?? their employees. Recognizing these concerns, the Leadership Training Program has been designed to clarify and align the common path, helping to converge the aspirations of each manager and equipping them with the essential mindset to achieve shared goals.

Leadership Training Program - Companionship is the key!

To achieve resilient success, a company needs both short-term and long-term goals. NTQ’s journey has been shaped by over a decade of exploring and seizing opportunities. With a solid foundation, NTQ’s goals and direction have become clearer, as the company receives support from a diverse range of customers in international markets. In the Leadership Training Program 2022, NTQ’s “common path” was further clarified and highlighted: NTQ aims to become a Global IT Service Provider.

In the Leadership Training Program, NTQ was fortunate to be accompanied by experts and chairpersons from numerous large corporations both internationally and within Vietnam, who shared valuable experiences and lessons. During the first session, Mr.Pham Dinh Doan, Chairman of Phu Thai Group, openly shared his journey in leading Phu Thai to become the 1st major corporation in Vietnam. These valuable and practical insights have become an inspiring story for NTQ’s managers.

Conquering the “Roof” of Indochina (Fansipan Peak) – Reality Activity to Train Leadership Mindset and The Untold Stories

The Leadership Training Program at NTQ is distinctive because it not only involves sharing session?s but also incorporates special challenges. These activities provide an opportunity for m?anagers to step away from their busy schedules, spend time in nature, and gain a deeper understanding of their teammates. In challenging situations, the determination and strong connections among NTQ managers become more apparent than ever.

This time, the challenge is to conquer Fansipan Peak—the highest mountain in Vietnam, with an altitude of 3,143m. This peak symbolizes the arduous and challenging goals that NTQ aspires to achieve. To ensure all members of the competing team reach the Fansipan Flagpole without using the cable car, there’s only one way: relying on their strength, the companionship of their team, and a determined spirit to see it through. The journey to the summit becomes even more demanding with NTQ Solution’s management and leadership team setting an ambitious target to conquer the peak in a maximum of 10 hours, embodying the spirit of “Speed Up”—NTQ’s slogan of 2022.

For many NTQ managers, this was their first experience with mountain climbing. Some members faced injuries or were not in peak physical condition just before the trip. Despite these challenges, none of them gave up, and the managers were resolute in their determination t?o conquer Fansipan P?eak together.

Despite these challenges, none of them gave up, and the managers were resolute in their determination to conquer Fansipan Peak together.
The journey to conquer Indochina’s highest peak was full of hardships and challenges, offering each team unique and interesting experiences. As the climb progressed, the weather became colder, the air thinner, and the terrain more rugged, testing the climbers’ endurance. Steep and slippery trails after rain, dangerous high cliffs, and unexpected incidents along the way also posed further challenges. These conditions required the NTQ Solution management team to display courage and composure, making quick and effective decisions under pressure.
Complicated routes, rugged terrain, and injuries encountered during the climb are challenges that demand courage and calm decision-making from the NTQ management team.
Complicated routes, rugged terrain, and injuries encountered during the climb are challenges that demand courage and calm decision-making from the NTQ management team.

“The journey was incredibly challenging. After losing strength from navigating complex routes, the whole team discussed strategies to slow down, rest, and regain stamina. When we were tired, each person walked a bit apart due to our varying physical strengths. Occasionally, we would call out to each other to make sure everyone was still nearby. The most memorable part for me was waiting to hear my teammates?familiar calls or the sound of their laughter teasing each other along the way. Those moments were like a rallying cry, encouraging me to keep pushing forward towards the finish line,” shared Color Girl, a nickname given to her by her teammates for having the most vibrant outfit in the competition.

“My physical strength started to wane after climbing two-thirds of the way, and at times, my legs seemed to stop responding to my mind. During those moments, the motivation to keep going came from the shouts of ‘almost there,’ ‘the road is almost flat,’ and ‘keep going’ from my teammates. Seeing the spirit and determination of my teammates, who were also dealing with their health issues, made me realize that I had a responsibility to move forward with everyone. The final push not to give up came from knowing that turning back would be harder than pressing on,” shared Mr. T, a representative of the Association of People Overcoming Difficulties.

“My team had prepared their physical strength, planned strategies, and gathered all the necessary equipment before the climb. So, the biggest challenge for me was finding ways to continuously motivate the members who showed signs of fatigue and wanted to give up,” shared Mr. K, the man carrying four “weights.”

With perseverance, resilience, and a strong desire to conquer, the “Converging Aspirations” flag flew proudly at the top of Fansipan, with NTQ Solution’s entire management and leadership team standing together. Achieving the ambitious goal of conquering Fansipan within 10 hours seemed impossible, but in the end, everyone united to reach the finish line, embodying NTQ Solution’s spirit of “L.E.O Up & Speed Up.”

“The journey to c?onquer Fansipan Peak symbolizes NTQ’s upcoming path. There will certainly be many difficulties and challenges, but we will surely overcome them if we go together,?shared Mr.L, a representative of the Association of Overcoming Difficultie??s.

By sharing both joys and hardships, we become closer and gain a deeper understanding of our teammates

“I see the essence of ‘teamwork’ in the saying: ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together!’ Previously, we often thought of this saying in a very abstract way. But during the less than 10-hour journey to conquer Fansipan, I truly felt its meaning. If we go alone, some team members might be faster at first, but they might not make it far or reach the finish line due to health issues and the lack of support from teammates. The success of the team belongs to every member. I felt very emotional, even excited, when the whole team ‘reached the top’ together,?Mr. T shared.

The program has concluded, but the emotions, memories, and experiences continue to be shared among the managers. The leadership training courses have provided a solid foundation for NTQ managers on their journey to achieve challenging goals, helping NTQ become a strong enterprise that brings value to society and the community.

Meet Zoey, also known as Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu, who embarked on her journey with NTQ in 2019 as a Business Analyst before stepping up as a Project Manager. Zoey is known for her vibrant, positive energy and a mindset that’s all about getting things done. At work, she’s the epitome of perfectionism, seriousness, and unwavering determination.

Remarkably, in a span of just three years, Zoey, born in ’94, soared to the role of BU Leader for BU1 at SDC8, making her the youngest ever to hold the position at NTQ. She’s skillfully steered numerous major projects, navigating through multi-million dollar deals with clients across Korea and Japan.

As we celebrate Women’s Month, let’s dive into the story of SDC8’s formidable woman and her inspiring ascent in the tech world.

The Value of New Experiences

Zoey’s journey is a testament to the unexpected paths life can take us on. With a degree in Business English from Foreign Trade University, she began her career translating in the world of finance, where she first brushed shoulders with the tech industry. Despite considering herself ‘low-tech’, the more she mingled with techies and delved into software development processes, the more she found herself captivated by this new world.

She recalls her first daily meeting—intended as a simple work update—where the jargon flew over her head, challenging her confidence in her English skills. Terms like ‘Sprint,’ ‘API,’ and ‘retro’ were foreign, yet intriguing puzzles to solve.

When her initial project wrapped up, Zoey dabbled i??n HR but felt the pull of technology too strong to resist. She pivoted to a BA Fresher role at an IT outsourcing firm, where she juggled numerous tasks, trained as ??a BA, and gradually stepped into the roles of sub-PM and then main PM for various projects. It was like being back in school, with each sub-project a thrilling dive into uncharted territory.

If her earlier roles showed her the industry’s ‘outer shell,’ NTQ was where she could really dig deep. Fueled by an ironclad spirit and a thirst for challenge, Zoey thrived, even when tasks veered off her job description. She believes that the key to staying passionate is recognizing the good things—the rich diversity and the ever-changing landscape of outsourced work.

Mrs. Thu reflects, ‘Managing a big project as a PM is a whole different ball game compared to a smaller one. Each domain teaches me something new. Even if the project model, domain, and team remain constant, there’s always a fresh lesson lurking in every challenge. It’s in resolving these issues that I find my greatest learnings.?/span>

Balancing Priorities

Zoey often quips that the concept of work-life balance doesn’t apply to her. She’s all about going all-in, whether it’s for work or relationships, believing that if you spread yourself too thin, you’ll only achieve mediocrity. Every choice she makes is weighed with careful thought, always considering what deserves her attention most at any given moment. ‘Limit your efforts, and your results will be limited too,‘ she says.

She’s faced with the classic conundrum: If she dedicates extra hours to work, who’ll look after her kids? And if she clocks out on time, who’ll keep the company’s gears turning smoothly? Despite these challenges, Zoey finds solace in her supportive family, who back her every move, allowing her to pursue her career ambitions without worry.

Even when business trips call, Zoey sees them as more than just tasks to tick off. They’re opportunities to represent her company and build trust with clients. Whether it’s establishing NTQ’s credibility in Korea, showing solidarity with U.S. partners at critical project phases, or fostering collaborative spirits in Hong Kong, she’s there, not just in body but in spirit, too.

And it’s not just about the miles traveled; each trip is a chance to harvest fresh insights on global business practices and market nuances.

The Search for Fulfillment in Work

Reflecting on her path of growth, Mrs. Thu shares a perspective that’s both humble and insightful. “I don’t count my achievements in the traditional sense,” she muses. “Looking back, I see a journey where luck and gratitude are my companions. My education, my career—everything has unfolded in a way that’s brought me joy and satisfaction, even when it’s taken unexpected turns.”

For Mrs. Thu, success isn’t about the fanfare of individual accolades or the grandeur of signing hefty contracts. Instead, she finds value in the collective triumphs—the ‘small wins’ that make a team’s efforts worthwhile. Whether it’s launching a system smoothly or simply witnessing the camaraderie and enthusiasm of her colleagues, these moments eclipse the weight of work pressures.

She believes that when you pour your heart into your work, it’s the joy and opportunities that shine through, not the challenges or stress. This joy transcends the material—it’s about the impact on the community, the company, the clients, and society at large.

Mrs. Thu recalls a poignant lesson from Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, COO of NTQ Solution, on the far-reaching consequences of a project’s success or failure. It’s a reminder of the real stakes involved, where a misstep can have life-altering implications, especially in cultures with stringent professional expectations.

This awareness shapes her approach to every project. She considers the broader implications—how it affects her colleagues, the company, the clients, and even those indirectly connected. It’s this conscientious mindset that justifies her dedication, often extending beyond the typical eight-hour workday. It’s not just about the job; it’s about the people and the lives that her work touches.

Working Where Values Align

Zoey’s story at NTQ is one of transformation and growth. She entered the company with a mindset shaped by her previous experiences, where roles were rigid and the company’s interests were paramount. This approach, while logical, often led to friction with clients, especially when additional costs for unforeseen work were involved.

Her turning point came through candid conversations with Mr. Pham Thai Son, the CEO, who introduced her to the concept of being a “bridge person.” This role emphasized flexibility and the importance of balancing interests to maintain strong customer relationships. He advocated for a customer-centric approach, suggesting that sometimes it’s worth making small concessions to ensure client satisfaction and deliver exceptional service quality.

These interactions with Mr. Son were eye-opening for Zoey, prompting a shift in her perspective towards quality and customer focus. It also blurred the lines between hierarchy levels, fostering?? a learning environment where building customer relationships was key.

Moreover, Zoey found value in the Board of Directors’ efforts to lead by example. They championed NTQ’s values through internal communication programs, promoting kindness and collective values. This helped establish a consistent culture of behavior among colleagues, superiors, and clients, further enriching her professional journey.

This edition of NTQ Rubik features the story of Ms. Hai Minh, the Project Manager (PM) of a prominent project series at NTQ Japan. Joining NTQ in the latter half of 2023, in less than six months, Ms. Hai Minh has built and led a “dream team” that any collective would desire, helping NTQ Japan successfully reach the milestone of 100 members and becoming the Employee of the Year 2023 at NTQ Japan. What motivated Ms. Minh to achieve these accomplishments? Let’s find the answer in the article below!

A turning point thanks to the spirit of self-study

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Foreign Trade Economics from the Foreign Trade University, Ms. Hai Minh worked as a translator for a Japanese manufacturing company based in Vietnam. With her superior capabilities and solid Japanese language skills, in 2013, Ms. Minh was sent by her company to work onsite in Japan. Not long after, an opportunity in the IT industry arose, leading her to shift her career to work for a renowned IT company, followed by a Canadian company specializing in SAP. The job of providing enterprise management solutions in the software industry requires knowledge of management, finance, production, and information technology. The vast body of knowledge in this field meant that Ms. Minh always had to stay updated. Although she came from an economics background, Ms. Minh found it advantageous to pursue this career because she had developed the ability to self-learn and enhance her skills. “Before that, I had no experience or training in SAP. As someone who knew nothing, I would pore over the available documents and teach myself. I’m also quite curious, so I took the initiative to explore materials from other projects, talk to the dev friends to see how they write code, converse with clients to understand their requirements, and propose solutions to them. In the company, besides SAP, there are satellite systems around, and I would learn what they do and how they write. It’s precisely because of this that I not only understand the technical business but also have the most comprehensive view of the systems in the company.”
After nearly six months of work, Hai Minh received The Best Employee of NTQ Japan 2023.
From a novice, Ms. Minh gradually proved her ability to become an SAP Consultant and even took on the PM role in some projects. After six years with her previous company, working in a multicultural environment, Ms. Hai Minh shared that the company helped her develop and learn much about products and infrastructure, but she felt she wasn’t adding much value. “In the company, my colleagues came from all over the world, everyone was very friendly and cheerful, but I was the only Vietnamese, so sometimes I felt a lack of connection to my roots. Perhaps that’s why I felt I wasn’t contributing much value.” Then, while deciding to change her environment, Ms. Minh happened to learn about NTQ Japan.

From no expectations to…

Sharing her impressions of NTQ Japan, Ms. Hai Minh admits that initially, she didn’t expect much, but after learning more about NTQ Japan, she was surprised, impressed, and more attracted. “Before that, I participated in the music show ‘Dài mãi cho mai sau’ by singer Khanh Ly, organized in Tokyo with NTQ Japan as the sponsor. Even though I didn’t know about NTQ then, I had a good impression because a company was willing to invest in bringing meaningful chapters and spiritual values to the Vietnamese in Japan.” The second impression was when she first visited the NTQ office. From her research, NTQ Japan was a newly established company, so she didn’t expect a new company to have such a large and luxurious headquarters right in the center of Tokyo. Moreover, when visiting NTQ, meeting and chatting with Mr. Dung, Mr. Nam, and Ms. Giang, everyone was very cheerful and youthful. She felt very familiar and decided to join NTQ right away.” After joining NTQ Japan in September 2023, just a month later, Ms. Hai Minh was assigned to lead a quite hot project about ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). “At first, when I joined the project, I was a bit worried about whether I had the capability to lead everyone. Moreover, ERP was a technology area I hadn’t worked in before, and many of my team members had never been exposed to it. Fortunately, everyone was very united, eager to learn, and supportive of each other,” Ms. Hai Minh confided.
Hai Minh and her puppy in NTQ Japan’s YEP 2023 ceremony
The project started with five members and gradually grew to twenty. Ms. Hai Minh proactively divided the project team into five smaller teams to empower the leaders, regularly organized training sessions to improve professional skills, and those who were strong supported the weaker ones. Thanks to this, the team experienced exceptional growth and stable development. The members matured a lot in knowledge, technique, and even their ability to use Japanese; they were highly rated by clients and called the “dream team.” Ms. Hai Minh’s management philosophy is “people-centered,” always creating opportunities for all members to develop. According to Ms. Minh, going to work should be effective, but not at the expense of everyone feeling tired and stressed. “I want everyone to work with dedication, feeling comfortable developing.”

Finding a place to contribute

“I don’t think I have anything worth mentioning about myself, my contributions compared to other members are still very small.” That was the gentle refusal we received from the editorial board when we asked Ms. Hai Minh, “What about yourself makes you proud during your time at NTQ?” Then she replied ” The thing I’m proudest of is my project team. Everyone is very united, supportive, caring, and sharing with each other, not only in work but also in daily life. All 20 people go to lunch together every day, laughing. Everyone has a spirit of learning and sharing knowledge with each other. There are members who have only joined for a short time but have made significant progress.” Hearing her passionately talk about the team, we somewhat understand why she could build and develop a “dream team” just a few months after taking on the role at NTQ. In Ms. Minh’s eyes, NTQ is a place “where everyone is close and considers each other family members. When working, everyone is very serious and focused, but always cheerful, with a comfortable atmosphere, something I’ve never seen in other companies.” Here, she and her colleagues are always challenged with new roles and tasks. That’s how she and other NTQ-ers step out of their comfort zones and improve every day.
Ms. Hai Minh and her co-worker at NTQ Japan
After some time working, Ms. Minh was trusted to take on the additional position of DM (Delivery Manager), responsible for exploring and developing cooperation opportunities of NTQ with clients. She recounted once participating in a bid for an SAP project for the company, she and her team put a lot of heart and hope into winning the project but were unsuccessful. “At that time, everyone worked very hard and had high expectations, so when the bid failed, I was very stressed and disappointed in myself, not knowing what to do next. After that, Ms. Giang, my boss, talked and encouraged me, pointing out what needed to be improved, so I also learned lessons to do better in future projects.” This is also the spirit of “companionship” of NTQ people, always sharing, supporting, and living wholeheartedly for each other. Ms. Hai Minh shared proudly: “At NTQ, everyone is very close, and the team spirit is very high. Even if there are failures or mistakes, everyone points out the wrongs, and what needs to be improved, and provides solutions. So no matter how difficult it is, I always feel like I have teammates behind me. Honestly, I’ve never thought about the word ‘contribute?before, but since joining NTQ, I feel motivated to try harder and want to contribute more.” —– *This article is part of the series: “NTQ Rubik – series about NTQ people across the globe.” As a Global IT Service Provider, NTQ Solution aims to create a working environment that brings together diverse technological talents with a shared passion, ambition, and unity to innovate and propagate numerous values. From partner to leader of NTQ Hong Kong, Johnny Chong, one of our 9x leaders, is the one who laid the first foundation, gradually building and positioning the NTQ brand in Hong Kong with sustainable growth after more than 5 years of establishment. On Johnny’s business trip to NTQ Solution’s Hanoi headquarters last December, the NTQ Rubik editorial board had the opportunity to chat with Johnny to listen to his shares that he rarely shares.

If you’ve just met Johnny Chong, the young Country Manager of NTQ Hong Kong, many might think he is a reserved and taciturn individual. However, few know that in his professional life, Johnny is an entirely different person, revealing more about his true self. When people engage in what they love, a magical energy emanates from them, making them stand out. This is the case with Johnny, who possesses strong internal drive, talent, perseverance, responsibility, and is always ready to face any challenges. Introduced to NTQ Solution through a collaborative project in 2019, Johnny expressed his admiration for NTQ’s technologies: “NTQ is a company that has almost all the current market technologies with a diverse product portfolio. Not only that, but you also have abundant human resources and a wide-reaching and professional network in dealing with customers. Thanks to this, we in Hong Kong have received much support from NTQ in communicating with customers and working together on technological solutions.” Appreciating the work style and being intrigued by NTQ’s direction, Johnny decided to choose to accompany and bond with NTQ as a “fateful encounter.”

Captain Responsible for NTQ Hong Kong

Operating a company in a market like Hong Kong is not easy because this place is renowned for having the most demanding work culture in Asia. “Hong Kong is one of Asia’s cities with the longest working hours. People in Hong Kong are accustomed to working from morning until night, from Monday to the weekend, with numerous phone calls, emails, and meetings. Working overtime on weekends to keep up with the pace of life here is a very common thing. In Hong Kong, the characteristic is speed; everything and everyone operates very quickly,” shared Johnny.

During the early days of NTQ Hong Kong, Johnny had to take on many roles, from business development to managing the company’s operations, including finance, accounting, contracts, arranging human resources, and even acting as a project manager. Rolling up his sleeves to do every task, Johnny built the foundation and operational machinery of NTQ Hong Kong brick by brick. Faced with a massive workload and a “hard-core” working environment accompanied by significant responsibilities, Johnny admits there were times when he felt immense pressure. However, his passion for technology and creating products that add value to customers was a “spiritual doping dose,” providing him with additional energy. “I love digital transformation projects and feel extremely excited whenever a project succeeds. Therefore, I always take that as motivation to strive relentlessly.” Johnny’s work philosophy is responsibility; regardless of the task or project, it must be executed in line with commitments to ensure progress and product quality. He is meticulous when working with partners, right down to the smallest details. Therefore, at NTQ, people are not unfamiliar with the image of Johnny sitting and coding with project team members during tight deadlines, always ready to be the “shoulder-to-shoulder challenger,” listening to inputs from team members to achieve the ultimate goal of delivering value to customers. His sense of responsibility has inspired and motivated many colleagues at NTQ. My Nguyen (Account Manager Assistant) shared: “Working with Johnny, I have learned a lot. He is not just a boss but also a close companion and very approachable. Whenever a project faces difficulties, he is ready to share the burden with everyone on the team. This is the spirit of a true leader, always professional, passionate, and instilling trust for all members to work towards a common goal.”

Ready for Big Dreams

To realize the organization’s grand aspirations, leaders must face numerous challenges and undoubtedly put in more effort. However, dreaming big is essential because we can showcase our full potential only when facing the most difficult circumstances. Sharing his vision for NTQ Hong Kong’s development in 2024, Johnny said, “Hong Kong is a tough market, demanding and extremely competitive. Customers here pay a high price, but you must also provide them with quality, professional services and products. In the future, we will focus on the mission of enhancing consulting capabilities, aiming to become a highly specialized consulting service provider, helping build solutions for customers rather than just being an outsourcing business, and taking NTQ Hong Kong to new heights in terms of quality and professionalism.” In addition, 2024 we will expand our ecosystem with several new service areas. NTQ Hong Kong’s technology strategy is centered around the latest AI, cloud computing, big data, and virtual reality technologies.

As a leader of an organization, Johnny is concerned not only with expanding its scale and numbers but also with building a work environment where people feel valued, motivated to contribute, and empowered to contribute to collective success. Big dreams are not easy, and work challenges have no easy answers. However, Johnny says that if we share the desire and act together, we will turn our dreams into reality. Therefore, work with a sense of responsibility. One day, when looking back, you will be surprised at what you have created. Closing the conversation, Johnny emphasized feeling fortunate for the open culture, trust, and empowerment at NTQ, which have helped him immensely in his ambitious journey with NTQ Hong Kong over the past five years. ——– * This article is part of the series: “NTQ Rubik – series about NTQ people across the globe.” As a Global IT Service Provider, NTQ Solution aims to create a working environment that brings together diverse technological talents with a shared passion, ambition, and unity to innovate and propagate numerous values. Ogura Haruka – a young woman born and raised in Chiba city, with a petite and graceful appearance, is currently working as a Marketing staff for NTQ Japan. She joined NTQ Japan in May 2023 and since then, she has enjoyed the multicultural working environment at NTQ.

Vietnam – A familiar and attractive destination

Ogura came across NTQ Japan’s recruitment ad online, just when she was looking for a full-time job that would allow her to work and interact with Vietnamese people. That was how she started her journey at NTQ Japan. Vietnam was not a strange country to Ogura, as she had studied Vietnamese for four years and had met many Vietnamese people before joining NTQ. She explained why she chose to learn Vietnamese: “It was a natural choice for me. I love foreign languages, so I wanted to study English when I entered university. But English is a global language, so students had to choose another language. I didn’t think too much, I just picked another Asian language. Besides, Vietnam is a developing country that has a good relationship with Japan. I thought there would be many job opportunities related to Vietnam, so I decided to learn Vietnamese.” Ogura Haruka had visited Vietnam four times as a student. She spent a month as a language exchange student, two weeks as an intern, and two trips as a tourist. During that time, she gained a deep understanding of the culture and people of Vietnam. What fascinated Ogura the most was not the beautiful scenery or the tasty food, but the friendliness and vitality of the Vietnamese people. “You can see it in a cafe shop, where people talk loudly and easily chat with strangers at the next table. That’s very different from Japan, where the cafes are usually quiet and everyone minds their own business. Or when you walk on the streets in Vietnam, the locals greet you warmly and enthusiastically.” The hospitality and openness of the Vietnamese people inspired her to look for a Vietnamese company to work with.

Learning from diversity

Working in a typical Japanese office can be serious and quiet, but working with Vietnamese people is more relaxed and enjoyable. Ogura feels energized by the friendly and enthusiastic colleagues at NTQ Japan, who help her adapt to the work quickly. They greet each other every morning and before leaving, share stories during lunch break, and even check on each other when someone is sick. All these gestures make the distance between the two countries disappear. When asked what she wants to learn more from the Vietnamese way of working, Ogura shares: “It is honesty and directness regardless of the position.” Japanese people respect hierarchy, so when talking to superiors, young people tend to listen more and argue less. However, since working at NTQ Japan, Ogura has changed her mindset completely. She recalls a situation when she first joined the company, at a weekly team meeting, a colleague disagreed with the boss’s idea, so she expressed it openly and they had a heated debate. Ogura thought that after the meeting, they would avoid each other for a while, but surprisingly, they were having lunch together and chatting happily that same day. Since then, Ogura has been confident in her ability to voice her opinion because she knows that NTQ is “a safe place” where everyone is equal and respectful. Moreover, Ogura also points out a thing that Vietnamese people can learn more from the Japanese working style: discipline. Discipline is not only about respecting yourself, but also respecting others.

NTQ Solution encourages experimentation

Ogura started at NTQ as a Sales Assistant, helping with translation and document preparation. But soon, she realized that to reach the Japanese market, the content and articles needed to be written by native speakers. She saw the potential at NTQ and wanted to challenge herself, so she suggested moving to Marketing – a position that NTQ Japan had never had before. Her superiors supported her, and she became the sole Marketing staff for NTQ Japan. After 6 months of work, Ogura is most proud of two technology exhibition projects in June and October. As a newcomer to the company and the industry, Ogura faced many difficulties and had to work overtime. But she also learned a lot from her seniors: how to plan from Ms. Dinh Huong in Vietnam, how to set up event booths and logistics from Ms. Cat, or how to attract customers to Uncle Eddie’s booth. The support and friendship from everyone around motivated Ogura to keep trying. Unlike the first experience, which was confusing, the exhibition in October went more smoothly and received positive feedback from everyone in the company. Ogura handled every stage by herself, from creating the booth concept, preparing documents and materials, working with the construction team, communicating with the sales team, making reports… Of course, there were still some unexpected situations. But Ogura believes that these are all useful lessons for her to improve every day. Regarding her future plans, Ogura wants to create many innovative ideas for the company’s marketing activities, and she is also open to trying new opportunities that match her strengths.

Thanks Ogura for her sharing. We hope Ogura’s journey at NTQ Japan will be full of new experiences and achievements. —– *This article is part of the series: “NTQ Rubik – series about NTQ people across the globe.” As a Global IT Service Provider, NTQ Solution aims to create a working environment that brings together diverse technological talents with a shared passion, ambition, and unity to innovate and propagate numerous values. Marco Velazquez, a young man from Mexico, is one of the many international staff at NTQ Solution. During his three years with NTQ, he took on various roles and left a lasting impression on his colleagues with his positive energy and enthusiasm. He also founded the English Communication Club, contributing to making the English learning movement at NTQ more vibrant than ever. Although he left NTQ more than a year ago to return to his home country, when NTQ Rubik reached out for an interview, Marco was still as enthusiastic as when he worked at NTQ. What interesting insights will this Mexican guy bring to this conversation? Let’s find out in the interview below!

Separated by half the Earth and a 13-hour time difference, it was not easy for the editorial board and Marco to schedule a meeting. Finally, after several exchanges, we managed to have a meeting at 8 p.m. (Mexico time) via Google Meet on one of Marco’s busy working days. However, when we met, he still wore a bright, energetic smile. He mentioned that despite the busyness, his time at NTQ was fantastic, and he wanted to take the time to share it with everyone.

What brought you to NTQ Solution?

It was when I decided to come to Vietnam four years ago. Honestly, before coming to Vietnam, I didn’t know much about this beautiful country. Just a few weeks before coming here, I started researching some information online. The more I learned, the more I realized that Vietnam is very similar to my homeland. The similarity between the two countries is the reason I chose to come to Vietnam. At first, I was unsure about my future plans. I was torn between staying here for the long term or just for a short period. After careful consideration, I decided to find a job in Vietnam. Then, I saw NTQ’s recruitment information on a website and sent my CV to apply for a Business Analyst position. That’s how my journey at NTQ began in August 2019.

During working at NTQ, did you face any challenges? How did you overcome them?

What worried me the most when I first came to Vietnam was the language barrier because I couldn’t speak or understand Vietnamese, even though I tried to learn it in various ways. My colleagues at NTQ could speak English, but it wasn’t their first language, so sometimes we had misunderstandings in communication, especially when I switched to becoming an English teacher in the Learning and Development (LnD) department. Fortunately, I had a colleague in LnD who always accompanied me, and that person was Truc. She was my teaching assistant and translator, helping me translate everything to communicate with others. I truly appreciate the patience of everyone on the team in exchanging ideas with me to understand each other better. In the early days when I had no friends, after a few weeks, I made many friends, and every day at NTQ was filled with joy. I met many good people, made real friends, and until now, I still keep in touch with them. They are super friendly, enthusiastic, and very kind to me. They brought me gifts like cookies, coffee, or tea, or invited me to lunch or eat pho with them. Even on my birthday, some colleagues in OS8 invited me to have a beer. In my many years working at NTQ, people have always been very friendly and warm to me. Although I miss home in Vietnam, thanks to the thoughtfulness and warm welcome of everyone, I feel very happy and warm. That’s why I stayed at NTQ for so long.

It is known that when you joined NTQ, you took on the role of Business Analyst and later became an English teacher in the LnD department. Can you share more about this story?

Actually, this decision was not made by me but by my manager. When I was working as a Business Analyst in OS8, my manager thought that I would be more suitable for the LnD department and offered me a position to build an English training program. Being someone who likes to challenge myself, I accepted the offer right away. I truly felt happy with this decision and considered myself fortunate that the company trusted me to experience new things, helping me unleash my hidden potential. In the LnD department, my colleagues and I established an English club. We opened classes at different levels, including classes for beginners, intermediate classes, and advanced classes for various groups of learners. We had many members join the club. For me, both OS8 and LnD have their good aspects. I also learned a lot from them during the work process.

What makes you happiest in your journey with NTQ Solution?

What truly makes me happy is when people come to meet me or send me a message on Skype like, “Marco, thank you so much for teaching me. Your classes are always fun, and we have a truly wonderful time. We learn a lot from you.” Or “I have too much work, and I’m sorry I can’t attend class. I really want to join your class.” I never thought I was doing my job well. I truly appreciate that I helped some people become better, similar to realizing that you can have a certain impact on some people. And when I hear them express their gratitude like that, I am truly happy. Also, it is thanks to my colleagues at NTQ that I feel like I belong to this place, to a community. You know, it’s the people from other countries who make me feel like I’m one of them; I don’t feel different. The time I worked at NTQ coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, a challenging period when many people were unemployed. But the company also helped me get the first vaccine shot, and the company helped me a lot. I am truly proud to be part of NTQ.

Thank you for this interesting conversation! In August 2022, Marco left NTQ to return to Mexico as part of his personal plan. Currently, he is working for a company manufacturing electronic components for the automotive industry. Marco said he really misses the working style and Vietnamese coffee, saying, “I really miss Vietnamese iced coffee. In Mexico, we also have coffee, but it’s very different. I miss those coffee chat sessions with friends. I miss everything. *Laughs* Please send me some Vietnamese coffee.” He affirms that he will still come back to Vietnam if possible because, for him, the rich culture, warm reception, friendliness of the Vietnamese people, and especially the beautiful memories during his time at NTQ have captured his heart and made him want to be connected longer. “I never thought I would move to Vietnam to work. I never thought I would become an English teacher. And I never thought I would work for an IT company. NTQ is a significant milestone in my career. I am very happy and proud of everything I did there. And I hope one day I can come back to Vietnam, stay there for a while longer because I had a truly enjoyable and meaningful time working at NTQ.” Marco adds. ?#8212;—— * This article is part of the series: “NTQ Rubik – series about NTQ people across the globe.” As a Global IT Service Provider, NTQ Solution aims to create a working environment that brings together diverse technological talents with a shared passion, ambition, and unity to innovate and propagate numerous values. Mr. Edatsune Isao is one of the talented inventors with the honor of being inducted into the “Hall Of Fame” of the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. With the Epson R-D1 digital camera developed by himself in 2019, this product was honored in the category “top 50 products that changed the world in the last 50 years”.

Currently, Mr. Edatsune Isao is the Vice President at NTQ Japan. Previously, he was Project Manager of Digital Camera (Seiko Epson), the world’s first digital project. This project is recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as one of the top 50 products changing the world in the past 50 years (2002 – 2004). Experience working at Foreign Development Centers in India, China, Philippines, USA, Vietnam (ODC), and Taiwan (ODM) … has helped Mr. Edatsune Isao earn remarkable achievements and business results, with annual revenue of up to 500 billion JPY. In addition, Mr. Edatsune Isao was also impressed with his proud achievements:
  • Head of Inkjet Industry Business Strategy at Seiko Epson.
  • Deputy General Director member of the executive board at SOC Company.
  • Sales Manager at E&MC member company of NIDEC Group.
  • Chairman of two prestigious electronics companies in Hangzhou – Keming and Kobal.

NTQ Solution – An environment that celebrates a diverse global culture

Joining NTQ Solution in 2020, Mr. Edatsune Isao, also known as Uncle Eddie, symbolizes the thoughtful and careful working style of Japanese people at NTQ Japan. In an interview with the Branding department, Uncle shared about the working style of Japanese and Vietnamese people who directly complement each other’s shortcomings. In any job, there will exist two different working styles. A department will promote safety and care by spending much time on discussions and meetings to find the best solutions. On the contrary, many people choose to go in the direction of processing work quickly to ensure maximum accuracy of the set schedule. At NTQ Solution in general and NTQ Japan in particular, individuals with different working styles coexist. That is an affirmation of the global diversity that NTQ Solution is aiming for. According to Mr. Edatsune Isao, who has many years of experience working with personnel worldwide (especially in Asia), this helps a lot in flexibly handling arising situations and connecting work between departments to create efficiency.  He added: “By changing my mindset, I have accepted a difference in how I work with a more flexible mindset. Special personnel need to learn to quickly adapt and integrate into many “globally diverse” environments like NTQ Solution.”
NTQ Solution respects differences to promote global diversity

NTQ Solution’s advantages in developing a culture of “global diversity”

A quick working style with care and thoughtfulness will bring good results. In order to run things more smoothly, in line with the culture of “global diversity,” Mr. Edatsune Isao highly appreciates the strengths of Vietnamese personnel at NTQ Solution, including: – Firstly, Vietnamese personnel know how to think to give perspectives and deep assessments, which have the effect of thoroughly solving the nature of the problem. – Second, Vietnamese people have an honest, straightforward nature. These advantages in communication and thinking help them quickly adapt to many different environments and diverse personalities. From there, promote rapid development in work progress so that the result is of good quality. – Third, Vietnamese personnel always have a learning and progressive attitude, shown by not being afraid to ask superiors if the information received needs to be clearer. In addition, they also have the habit of regularly reporting and promptly updating the situation so that the work progress goes smoothly, ensuring the outputs are always of good quality. However, Mr. Edatsune Isao also emphasized: “Each individual’s mindset is different, each business also has different cultures, and the language gap is an obstacle.” He hoped that in the present time, the staff at NTQ Vietnam would not repeat the same weaknesses as the cases he experienced in other environments in the future.

The plans for NTQ Japan

Therefore, in the development plan of NTQ Japan 2024, Mr. Edatsune Isao emphasized how to build a comprehensive organizational structure, train more talents to shoulder the future of NTQ, not just based on individual capacity, at the same time, creating uniformity in quality, sustainable development to bring effective profits to the company. Mr. Edatsune Isao said that to maintain sustainability in any organization or field; each needs to improve their professional capacity, discipline, and reputation first. As an example of punctuality, in a meeting, if someone is 5 minutes late, leaving ten other people waiting, it is a good use of 5 minutes. It is a waste of 50 minutes for the team. This is important in moving towards the message of “global diversity.” It shows professionalism in the working style, as well as the behavior and actions of each member. From there, contribute to change and spread a positive culture within the company. Mr. Edatsune Isao hopes that he can dedicate and stick with NTQ Solution for a long time, together with the company, to create sustainable value and bring long-term benefits to each customer. After all, a business is really “good to make.” In addition to creating differentiated value, NTQ Solution needs to give customers more than they can get from the original value. This is also the working philosophy of Mr. Edatsune Isao during more than 03 years of dedication at NTQ Japan.
To foster sustainability, every individual at NTQ Solution needs to enhance their expertise, discipline, and credibility
Finally, Mr. Edatsune Isao remembered to recall the positive culture present at NTQ Solution. He loved individuals who were willing to contribute ideas with frankness and gentleness. Recalling the phrase “wow service” that he was attracted to when working at NTQ Solution from the beginning, Mr. Edatsune Isao wanted to reaffirm the quality of each service NTQ Solution provides. For that to always be sustainable and inherited, each individual in the human resources team working in an international environment like NTQ Solution is indispensable.  He believes that with the experience accumulated over the past decades, NTQ Solution will grow stronger and stronger, in line with the spirit of “The Power of TheOne.”
